With yesterday's announcement of full recognition of the Cowlitz Tribe, the full recognition of the Chinook Tribe cannot be far behind.
It is time to rev up this site. I see many posts here from (obivously) young people looking for research. ClareO's post, linking to a Chinook Jargon Dictionary was a good one.
I am married to a Chinook decendant whose Family Tree goes straight back to the famous "one-eyed" Chinook Chief Comcomly. With the upcoming Lewis & Clark Tri-centennial, the Chinook Tribe hopes to play a big part.
I can remember when is was not "cool" to be a Native American. Times have indeed changed.
