OK--the answer to the last Chinook Quiz:

The 2 things NOT used by the Chinook, that are commonly taught as being pure Indian, are the wearing of moccacins and the riding of horses. The title of the book written about the Chnook called "Naked Against the Rain" kinda gives you a big hint about Chinookian clothing. Barefoot was normal.

Because the Chinook always tried to travel by water, in a canoe, they did not need (or want) horses. They certainly must have known, that just upriver, the Nez Pierce tribe had perfected the Appaloosa horse breed and used them for everything. There exists a photograph, taken about the turn of the century, that shows a "Chinook Indian" horse race at a track near Camas, Wa. If there were any Chinooks involved, you can be sure that they were betting on the outcome of the race. Then there's "Indian Horse Heaven" up by Mt. Adams, but that's another story.
