Thank you for your nice comments.

Going to Vassar, eh?

Anyway, to correct your post ( a bit )---the Chinook Headquarters is located in Chinook, WASHINGTON, not Chinook, Oregon. You would find the ofice in the old schoolhouse downtown. My "weath" of knowlege comes only out of curiosity as I am married to a Chinook. So, I dove into the research and have posted links here that may help others. There was never a Chinook "nation" like you would think. There were bands or groups of Chinook here and there, each with their own spokesman or Chief (Tyee). We see references now and then, to "The Chinook Country"---which is, by definition, the Lower Columbia River valley.

Your very best bet for family research is the tribal office. The "official" web-site is off and running and someone looks at it every day. The office does family tree "match-ups" and would help you with your family tree.
