But...your next to last paragraph speaks volumes for what it does NOT say. By mid-century (I assume you mean 1850+) there were not enough full-blood Chinook left on the Lower River to know what Religion they were. There was the Shaker Church at Bay Center, there were the Catholics near present day Ft. Columbia, there were Metis (French Canadian/Chinook) Families, and there was the Federal Law that prohibited the Chinook from ANY Native Religeous Practices. And it was enforced. Sure, the "Dreamer" cults DID exist, but their numbers were very small.
