What was the significance of the Pipe to the local tribal peoples? I have read that they grew tobacco and used knickknick but I have only found accounts that the Pipe was smoked and nothing in detail as to its meaningful use. Did the People,in the times before the coming of the whiteman, use the Pipe in a Sacred Manner such as described by Black Elk of the Oglala Sioux? How is it used currently?
