Ranald MacDonald's father was a Archibald MacDonald who was the Chief Factor at Fort Colvile, Wa. Was posted there in 1833 until 1844. Before that he had been Chief Factor at Fort Langley, B.C. Two of his 13 children from his second wife were born there.Archibald's second wife was a Jane Klyne, who's father was also with the Hudson's Bay Company, but up at Jasper House, Alberta.Archibald MacDonald was born in North Argyleshire, Scotland on Feb. 3, 1790.Died on Jan.15, 1853, in St. Andrews, Ont. Canada, on the Ottawa River Archibald's brother's son, Angus MacDonald joined the HBC in 1838 and in 1852 was appointed Chief Factor at Fort Colvile in 1852 untill it was closed down by HBC June 8, 1871.
