The Medicine rattle used by the Chinook was generally an ornately carved wand with strings of shells, or more commonly, dried deer hooves tied to it.

They most likely used wooden “bentwood” boxes as drums. Their large potlatch dishes may also have served this purpose. House planks, and often the houses themselves, would be utilized as drums during a healing.

Whistles fashioned from the long leg bones of certain birds have been found within the cultural area.
